Terminating a subscription contract
Any application for termination of subscription contract can go through only if it is made by the subscriber himself or by his proxy equipped with a power of attorney to that effect. Â
Show up at the counter of the Branch in charge of your subscription, equipped with a written application, a power of attorney if you are a proxy, your national identity card and the consumer deposit payment receipt.
If you application is approved, CDE would then go ahead to dismantle the meter in the field and to take the reading as shown on the meter. This reading will determine the consumption between your last bill and the day the meter is dismantled. The Commercial Clerk then proceeds to terminating your subscription contract and informs you of the balance of your account after termination
Hereafter there are two possible outcomes :
-
1. The balance of your account is positive after deducting your final consumption on termination of subscription (the difference between your consumer deposit and the outstanding consumption is in your favour). In such case, the remainder is paid back to you on presentation of the consumer deposit payment receipt to the cashier
2. The balance of your account is negative after deducting your final consumption on termination of subscription (the difference between your consumer deposit and the outstanding consumption is in your favour of CDE). In this case you are asked to pay the outstanding balance to the cashier
If you do not settle this outstanding balance, any new subscription on that installation shall be possible only after clearance of that debt. You also run the risk of being refused another subscription with CDE no matter the town or Branch involved with your new application for subscription.
